01 — The Beginning
CUBOX was born from a friendship, a shared passion for boxing, and a dream that started thousands of kilometres away from where it stands today.
Over nine years ago, Ruben and Julio first met in Cuba through a mutual friend. At the time, neither of them could have imagined that one day they would reunite on the other side of the world and build something together.
02 — Roots
Both were born and raised in Cuba, a country rich in culture, resilience, and one of the greatest boxing traditions in history. While their childhoods were filled with happiness, family, and unforgettable memories, they also experienced the realities of growing up with limited opportunities, scarce resources, and the challenges that come with living in a system that often restricts personal growth and ambition.
Like many Cubans, they dreamed of something bigger.
03 — A New Beginning
Years later, life brought them both to Perth, Western Australia. What once seemed impossible became reality. After leaving Cuba and starting a new life in Australia, Ruben dedicated himself to boxing, representing Western Australia and competing at the highest levels of amateur boxing.
A four-time State Champion, three-time Golden Gloves Champion, two-time Silver Gloves Champion, and Australian Championship silver medallist, Ruben spent years pursuing his dream in the sport he loved. He competed in over 45 fights, represented his state and country, and travelled internationally in pursuit of excellence.
04 — Madrid
One of the most defining moments of his journey came after narrowly missing Olympic qualification. Determined to continue chasing his goals, Ruben travelled to Madrid, Spain, to compete and train alongside some of the world's best fighters. Although an injury prevented him from competing at the World Championships, the experience changed his life forever.
For the first time, he witnessed the global boxing industry from the inside.
He saw how boxing could transform lives, create opportunities, build communities, and inspire people across the world. He realised that boxing was more than a sport — it was a powerful vehicle for growth, connection, discipline, and purpose.
05 — The Leap
When he returned to Australia, he shared his vision with Julio.
At first, Julio wasn't convinced.
But after months of conversations, planning, and belief in a shared future, they decided to take the leap together.
More than a boxing gym, CUBOX represents the values that shaped their journey — resilience, discipline, friendship, courage, and the pursuit of something greater than yourself.
06 — The Brand
Today, CUBOX continues to grow as both a boxing community and a lifestyle brand inspired by the rich history of Cuban boxing.
The CUBOX apparel line is built on the elegance, sophistication, and technical mastery that have made Cuban boxing respected around the world. Inspired by the iconic Olympic teams, legendary champions, and timeless style of Cuban boxing, the brand aims to honour that history while creating something new for the next generation.
Even the CUBOX logo tells a story. The signature "C" is inspired by the shape of Cuba itself, serving as a constant reminder of where we came from and the journey that brought us here.
07 — The Mission
Our mission extends far beyond the ring.
We want to help people build confidence, discover their potential, overcome obstacles, and become champions in their own lives. Whether you're an athlete, a beginner, a professional, a parent, or someone searching for a fresh start, CUBOX is a place where you can belong.
We came from a small island with limited opportunities and built a new life on the other side of the world. Now, our goal is to share a piece of that journey with others.
